Last week was a busy time here at Spirit in the Sky. Steven, Mycroft and Tom headed out to Hamburg in order to inspect a very interesting Waco Cabin UEC. The UEC is a rare aircraft and even rarer in its original form. This particular aircraft is a 1932 Waco Cabin UEC and thus will be the oldest aircraft we have restored to date. The restoration is about 60% complete and many new parts have already been sourced including the front exhaust system, new braking systems, propeller and instruments. The work that has been undertaken to date is of a very high standard and should be relatively straight forward to complete. As with all of these vintage aircraft restoration projects the challenge is to maintain originality alongside all of the additional qualities that buyers wish to see in an aircraft such as reliability, comfort and quality.
It is our aim to ship this beautiful aircraft over to the UK by the end of February and to have her completed in time for the Goodwood Revival in September. A tall order but that is our aim. We will of course publish updates to record our progress in getting this timeless classic back to concours flying condition.
