The Eurocopter H125

The Eurocopter H125 helicopter, commonly referred to as the ‘Squirrel,’ stands out as one of the most favoured aerial camera platforms in the film and television industry. It is authorised for a variety of camera mounts, accommodating nearly every camera system currently available.

With its payload capacity, expansive cabin, manoeuvrability, and speed of 120 knots, it has solidly cemented its position in the industry.

The Eurocopter AS355

The Eurocopter AS355 helicopter or ‘Twin Squirrel’ serves as an excellent aerial platform for navigating areas that demand the enhanced safety of two engines such as flying over cities large towns or open water, where single engine helicopters may not meet the legal requirements. Similar to the H125 it can be fitted with various mounts and camera systems, however the payload is slightly reduced due to the weight of the additional engine.

The Yak-52 TW

Originally intended as a student trainer, the aerobatic capability of the Yak-52 renders it an ideal choice for wing-mounted cameras, capturing flawless shots in scenarios like air-to-air combat or aerial displays. The two-seat cockpit provides ample space for the Director of Photography (DOP) to sit behind the pilot and skilfully capture the footage.

The Socata TBM 700

The pressurised cabin of the TBM 700 enables us to ascend to higher altitudes. Using the Shot Over F1 system, the TBM 700 positions us perfectly to capture ideal shots of airliners or even jet fighters. The spacious 4-seat cabin provides ample room for the Director of Photography (DOP) and the director to comfortably review footage and plan their next sequence.

The Mitsubishi MU-2

The Mitsubishi MU-2 takes us to the next level, featuring a pressurised cabin and speeds of 295 knots, that empower us to track a diverse range of aircraft. The MU-2 camera platform excels with the ability to accommodate multiple gyro stabilised camera positions to cover a 360 degree field of view. With its extensive range and roomy cabin, the director and multiple camera operators can spend extended time on task to ensure all shots are obtained in one sortie.
